Riding the bus
This is a more intense version of the original. And remember, you have to play quickly.
Take a deck of 52 cards and arrange the cards, face down, in a pyramid. One card for the first row, two cards for the second row, etc all the way down to five cards for the fifth row. Then deal the remaining cards out to how ever many players you have. If you have leftover cards, stick them in the 6th row which will come into play later.
The game plays like this. You flip the first card over. Say it’s a 7. If you have any sevens in your hand, you can give them to other players and they will have to drink one drink for each card. Now on the second row, each person has to drink two drinks for each card they’re given. You continue flipping over cards and handing out drinks until you finish flipping over every card. And remember, each row increases the amount of drinks, so by the fifth row you’re drinking 5 drinks for each card you’re given. Also, if you’re given a seven in the first round, you have to continue drinking every time that card comes up later. So if another seven comes up in the 5th round, you have to drink 5 for each seven you’ve been given in previous rounds.
Now here’s where things can differ. If you had no left over cards for the 6th row, go straight to riding the bus. If you do have a 6th row, flip those over and each player drinks six for each card given.
Riding the bus: Who rides the bus is determined by whoever has the most cards left in their hand after all the cards have been flipped over. To ride the bus, lay four cards in a row, face down. Flip them over one by one. It works like this. If you flip over a 10, you drink 1 and add one more card to the row. If you flip a jack it’s 2 drinks and two more cards, etc all the way to ace, which is five drinks + 5 added cards. If the first four cards have no face cards, repeat until you get a face card.
It’s not as complicated as it sounds and it has the potential to get you really fucked up. I’ve riden the bus through 2 decks of cards before which ended up being about 4 beers in 5 minutes.
